How we hit an exact file size
Upload forms rarely explain themselves. They just say the file must be under 50 KB and reject everything else. Most people then guess: drop the quality, check, try again, repeat. Our compressors do that search for you.
When you set a target, the tool re-encodes your image repeatedly at different quality levels, narrowing in until it finds the highest quality that still lands under your limit. It usually takes a handful of passes and finishes in under a second, because all of it happens on your own device.
If the image still cannot fit at a reasonable quality, we reduce the pixel dimensions before dropping quality further. A slightly smaller photograph that stays sharp reads far better than a full sized one turned to mush, which matters when the file is a passport photo or a signature on an application form.
